BOCAUE, Bulacan – Chris Newsome remained committed to helping Gilas Pilipinas in any way possible.

Despite being the last cut for the Final 12, Newsome was still out on the bench cheering for the Nationals in their first assignment against the Dominican Republic on Friday, Aug. 25, at the Philippine Arena.
Newsome was spotted as a ballboy in the warmup of Gilas before the game started.
He even had a one-on-one warm-up session with Jordan Clarkson.
“My role is to help any way that I can,” Newsome said.
Newsome was the final player that was cut in the list after Calvin Oftana, Bobby Ray Parks and Thirdy Ravena.
The 33-year-old shooting guard recently played for the tricolors in 2023 Southeast Games in Cambodia, where they retained the crown against host Cambodia in the finals.
