BACOLOD CITY – Police arrested four persons, including three relatives, in Barangay Palampas, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental on Thursday, August 24, for allegedly robbing a woman the day before in Barangay 5, San Carlos City.
Charges for robbery with force and intimidation were filed against Michael Toyogan, 42; his brother Francisco, 44, their cousin, Jereco Burdago, 38, and their friend John Mar Santa Ana, 39, all residents of Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.
Police Lt. Col. Jesus Mesahon, San Carlos police chief, said the Michael allegedly fired a shot and threatened the victim at gunpoint before stealing her cellular phone on Wednesday, August 23.
Michael fled with his three companions on board two motorcycles.
Mesahon said the suspects were arrested in a follow-up operation after they were spotted having a drinking session in Barangay Palampas early on Thursday.
He said the victim positively identified the suspects.
Police recovered from Michael a .45 caliber pistol loaded with six bullets, an extra magazine loaded with six bullets, and the stolen cellular phone.
Mesahon said that additional charges for illegal possession of firearm and ammunition were also filed against Michael.
He said another complainant also reported to the police that Michael robbed him four days ago.
