2 men arrested after robbing 3 PUJ passengers in Ermita

Two men were arrested by police operatives after they robbed three passengers inside a public utility jeepney (PUJ) in Ermita, Manila on Saturday morning, Aug. 26. 

The Manila Police District Station 5 identified the suspects as Andy Ayuso, 35, and June Braga, 20, both residents of Paco, Manila. 

The victims told police that they were onboard the passenger jeep at around 3:26 a.m. when the suspects declared a holdup upon reaching Barangay 659 in Ermita.

The suspects, who were armed with guns, forcibly grabbed and took the victims’ personal belongings.

The suspects then alighted from the PUJ and ran towards Padre Burgos in Ermita. 

The three victims reported the incident at 9:20 a.m. at Lawton Police Community Precinct (PCP).

The police immediately conducted a follow-up operation that resulted in the suspects' arrest and recovery of the victims' belongings such as mobile phones, a wristwatch, and a black sling bag. 

The operatives also confiscated from the suspects two .38-caliber revolvers loaded with five live ammunition. 

The suspects are now under the custody of Police Station 5 and will be charged with robbery with violence against persons, and for violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
