The number of confirmed Filipinos who perished during the Maui wildfire has now reached three as county officials released more identities of the victims.
Salvador Coloma, 77, was the third Filipino to be reported as fatality in the devastating fire that hit Lahaina on Aug. 8.
"The Consulate (in Hawaii) has reached out to a relative of Mr. Coloma to extend its profound condolences and to offer support and assistance," the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Friday.
The other Filipino victims earlier reported by the agency were: Rodolfo Rocutan, 76 and Alfredo Galinato, 76.
Meanwhile, the Philippine consulate is also verifying the nationalities of other reported casualties: Conchita Sagudang, 75; Danilo Sagudang, 55; Antonia Molina, 64; and Carlo Tobias, 54.
The DFA said consulate records showed no results for the two Sagudangs, although online information stated they are from Abra province.
Same case applied to Molina and Tobias, but online information showed they had relatives in the Philippines.
"This is needed for the Consulate to verify its records of reported Filipino casualties or other distressed Filipinos, and to provide assistance as required," DFA said.
"The DFA urges relatives of affected Filipinos to contact the Consulate at its hotline number +1808 253-944," it added.
