TESDA unveils 5-year development plan for TVET sector

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) has officially launched on Friday, August 25, its National Technical Education and Skills Development Plan (NTESDP) 2023-2028 which stands as the national blueprint for the technical vocational education and training (TVET) sector.
TESDA Secretary Suharto T. Mangudadatu, United States Ambassador to the Philippines Marykay Carlson, and DOLE Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma led the launch with the theme, “MaGaling at MakaBagong TVET para sa Bagong Pilipinas: TVET as Pathway to Recovery and Social-Economic Transformation” at the Peninsula Hotel in Makati City.
The NTESDP 2023-2028 was formulated by TESDA in consultation with different stakeholders as mandated under Republic Act No. 7796 and with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
“The NTESDP 2023-2028 captures the government’s more inclusive and aggressive approach in creating a globally competitive workforce and fostering economic growth through continuous skilling, reskilling, and upskilling in the context of lifelong learning. This will be realized through the collaborative spirit of various sectors working together to shape a brighter future for the Philippines,” Mangudadatu said.
Guided by AmBisyon Natin 2040, the 8-point economic agenda, the Philippine Development Plan (PDP), and the Labor Employment Plan, the NTESDP 2023-2028 underwent various comprehensive national and area-based planning as well as multi-sectoral consultations.
Also present during the launch were Ambassador-Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Nigeria to the Republic of the Philippines Folakemi I. Akinleye, Malaysian Ambassador to the Philippines Dato Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino, German Ambassador to the Philippines Andreas Pfaffernoschke, Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Charge' d'Affaires San Yu Kyaw, TESDA Deputy Directors General Rosanna A. Urdaneta, Aniceto D. Bertiz III, and Vidal D. Villanueva III.
Legislators, local and international partners, industry associations, and representatives from other government agencies, academe, labor groups, employer groups, and embassies were likewise at the event.
