PRESIDENTIAL Assistant for Eastern Mindanao Leo Tereso A. Magno shakes hands with General Santos City Mayor Lorelie Geronimo Pacquiao during a meeting on Friday, August 25.
Magno said in a statement that his meeting with these officials is to check the issues and concerns of the provinces in the region, which encompasses South Cotabato, Cotabato City, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, and General Santos City (Soccsksargen).
In his discussion with General Santos City Mayor Lorelie Geronimo Pacquiao, she expressed her intention to be part of the national government's Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) initiative.
“Mayor Pacquiao intends to be part of the initiative to address the housing issue within their city,” said Magno, a member of the Regional Development Council in Central Mindanao.
The 4PH aims to build 6.15 million housing units within six years, according to President Ferdinand R. Marcos' 2022 year-end report. The initiative includes altering informal settlements into high-quality residential areas and waterfronts.
Magno said that his office is willing to support General Santos City as long as the city government will provide the list of recipients and the location for the construction of the project as he planned to bring the matter to the President through the Office of the Special Assistant to the President.
The presidential assistant for Eastern Mindanao also met police and military officers and discussed the peace and order situation in Central Mindanao. He also attended an event with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
