Man posing as a soldier arrested in Rizal

A 53-year-old man was arrested by operatives of the Morong Municipal Police Station for illegal possession of firearms and for posing as a soldier in Sitio Pugala, Barangay Lagundi, Morong, Rizal on Thursday, Aug. 24.

The police identified the suspect as Romeo Edulag.

According to the police report, Edulag was arrested by law enforcement operatives and recovered from him multiple calibers of firearms which included an assault rifle and a shotgun, ammunition, and other military paraphernalia and equipment such as a tactical vest and several radios.

Upon further investigation and testimonies from his neighbors, the suspect regularly poses as a member of the Philippine Army by wearing its uniform and by bringing his firearms. Edulag was also involved in several indiscriminate firing incidents and mining activities.

He is now facing charges for violation of R.A 10591 (Firearms Law) and is currently detained at the Morong Custodial Facility.

"Ang pagkakahuli sa suspek ay resulta ng pinaigting na kampanya ng Rizal Provincial Police Office (Rizal PPO) sa loose firearms. Isa rin ito sa dulot ng maganda at masigasig na pagtratrabaho ng buong Rizal PNP (The suspect's arrest is a result of the intensified campaign of the Rizal PPO against loose firearms. This also proves the diligence and perseverance of the whole Rizal PNP against such cases)," the police said.
