Happy birthday, mom!

To say that this year has been filled with all sorts of curve balls and the most unexpected of challenging circumstances would be putting it all extremely mildly. But how you stood up to every situation with so much grace has not only proven that the most precious of diamonds are most certainly created under pressure, but that your selflessness is unparalleled, and in fact, is on a league of its own.


You remind me everyday that true strength is not only about being steadfast with your decisions and showing up when the easier way out would be otherwise, but more so about one’s willingness to sacrifice comfort, even happiness temporarily, and ones wishes when the odds are against you, for the sake of your family – for peace and harmony. That resilience is solely fueled by prayer, and ones unyielding faith. Your actions remind me everyday that true love is constantly patient, forgiving, and knows no bounds.


If I could be half the mother you are, then I most certainly would consider myself a success. How your magnanimous heart continuously grows even when I think it cannot get any bigger is my constant reminder that there a mother has a very distinct capacity to love eternal. In sharing your blessings, you have not only inspired me to always count mine infinitely, and seek out the good in others, but that although kindness is priceless, and being kind is free, it can make the most substantial difference in another person’s life – one that can change a life forever.


You understand me in a way that no one else does, and while we share many similarities, you also allow me to thrive in between all our differences. While you are as quick to forgive as I never forget, at the end of the day, I realize I always turn to you because your intentions are always the best and most well-meaning. Many times, I have proven that you know me perhaps even more than I know myself. While you are definitely the nicer one between us, you have never invalidated my feelings. Everyday, I am reminded that discernment is key – how others make you feel is what speaks most poignantly of their character. This is one of the greatest lessons I have ever learned from you.


To the one who gave me life, and continues to. One of my greatest constants, my 24/7 counselor (who can also stress me out incomparably) and bestest of friends – thank you for being who you are. My most honest source of wisdom, and my staunchest ally. Thank you for being my everyday. For showing me what matters, and how valuable loyalty is. For quelling my worries – both valid and invalid. May you never tire of praying for all of us, and of reminding me that self-love is essential in order to be able to love others wholeheartedly. Happy, happy birthday, mom! You will always be one of the greatest human beings I will ever come to know. May you be blessed infinitely all the days of your life.
