Vice President Sara Duterte is hoping that ACT Teachers partylist Rep. France Castro would find "great joy" in planning for her impeachment.
In a statement on Friday, Duterte said Castro "doesn’t deserve an explanation" as the latter mulls her impeachment because of the Office of the
Vice President (OVP)’s controversial confidential funds.
"She did not come to class prepared—like a good teacher," the Vice President said.
Nevertheless, Duterte welcomed Castro's recommendation to the Commission on Audit (COA) to launch a probe into her office's P125 billion worth of confidential funds as she seemed unbothered by Makabayan bloc’s plan to impeach her.
"Tungkol sa impeachment, syempre pag-aaralan natin 'yung mga possibility para mapanagot kung makikita natin talaga itong mga binanggit nating violation na ito, lalong lalo na (Regarding the impeachment, we will look into that possibility to hold people accountable especially with regards to the violations of) misuse of public funds, technical malversation, at saka paglabag sa constitution," Castro said in a press conference.
For Duterte, Castro was only overwhelmed by "seething disdain," which is "hardly concealed even by her capacity to string serious allegations."
"All she did was wildly and masterfully arrange some allegations against me and the OVP, which will all be answered once the probe is done and during the budget hearing," Duterte said.
"Meanwhile, I hope she finds gratification and great joy over the thought of my impeachment from office. Enjoy," she added.
