5 dead from diarrhea in Camarines Sur


LEGAZPI CITY, Albay – Five persons have died from diarrhea in Caramoan, Camarines Sur.

The local government unit (LGU) of Caramoan said the fatalities were from Barangay Maligaya.

The LGU added that diarrhea cases increased this month and the highest number was recorded in Barangay Haponan.

Dr. Marick Reyes, municipal administrator of Caramoan, confirmed these diarrhea cases but referred to the Rural Health Unit for additional information.

A municipal advisory said that the LGU led by Mayor Marilyn Socorro Co assured help to the victims’ families.

The LGU also assured medicines and oral rehydration solutions for affected residents.

In addition, the LGU said they have been distributing potable water through the Bureau of Fire Protection to residents of Barangay Maligaya and measures have been undertaken to stop the spread of the disease.

The LGU has asked residents to maintain clean surroundings, have proper hygiene, and drink clean water to prevent diarrhea.

Ako Bicol party-list Reps. Zaldy Co and Jil Bongalon have assured help to affected residents.

"We have already instructed our provincial coordinator in Partido area to give financial assistance to the families of those who perished," Bongalon said.

Ako Bicol assured financial assistance to every Bicolano from womb to tomb, especially during times of crisis.
