CAMP Olivas, City of San Fernando, Pampanga – A former member and spokesperson of the New People’s Army-affiliated mass organization Aguman da reng Maglalautang Capampangan and Alyansa ng Magbubukid sa Gitnang Luzon surrendered in Angeles City.
The surrenderer was given initial cash assistance to facilitate his reintegration into the community.
Meanwhile, in Nueva Ecija, a municipal councilor, alias “Konsi,” who had been financing the NPA and front organizations, also surrendered.
He pledged loyalty to the government and renounced support to Leftist groups.
Police Regional Office-3 Director Police Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr. stressed the importance of continued dialogues between government forces and NPA and communist front organization members as key strategy in countering local insurgency.
“We urge our fellow Filipinos who are still aligned with the Left to lay down their arms and pursue a more promising path in life,” he added.
