ILOILO CITY – With the start of the filing of Certificates of Candidacy (COCs) for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections next week, security preparations are underway across Western Visayas region.
Atty. Dennis Ausan, regional director of the Commission on Elections (Comelec)-6, led the Regional Joint Security Coordinating Center (RJSCC-6) special meeting this week.
Ausan was joined by Police Brig. Gen. Sidney Villaflor, director of Police Regional Office-6, Major Gen. Marion Sison, commander of the 3rd Infantry Division (ID) of the Philippine Army; Commodore Arnoldo Lim, commander of the Philippine Coast Guard-6, and Atty. Jessica Sapal of the Department of Education (DepEd)-6.
The RJSCC-6 aims to safeguard and maintain peace for the BSKE in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental provinces as well as the highly urbanized cities of Iloilo and Bacolod.
Villaflor vowed that PRO-6 will exert all its efforts and resources starting next week until the October 30 polls.
“I urge the public to do their share in our goal to have a secured, accurate, and free conduct of 2023 barangay and SK elections,” urged Villaflor.
“We will strictly implement all the guidelines set by Comelec and will intensify all our police operations and anti-criminality campaign to deter lawless elements from spreading threat, fear and chaos,” added Villaflor.
