Police nab 17 drug suspects, seize more than P860,000 'shabu' in QC buy-busts

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) arrested 17 drug suspects and seized more than P860,000 worth of "shabu" in a series of buy-bust operations in Quezon City, on Wednesday, Aug. 23, and Thursday, Aug. 24.
On Aug. 23, at around 10 p.m., operatives from Fairview Police Station (PS 5) arrested Renzo Mendoza, Ross Wilson Arenas, and Danny Mar Delos Santos at No. 9 Upper Narra St., Sapamanai East, Barangay Greater Fairview, Quezon City.
Police said they were tipped off by a concerned citizen about the suspects’ illegal activities, prompting them to conduct a buy-bust operation against Arenas and Delos Santos.
Seized from the suspects were around 100 grams of alleged shabu worth P680,000, a cellular phone, and the buy-bust money. A .45-caliber pistol with three live bullets was also confiscated from Mendoza.
On Aug. 24, at around 7 p.m., Kamuning Police Station (PS 10) personnel arrested Shanrey Sosa Dimaano and Jayson Laguidao Mangahas on Roces Avenue in Barangay Paligsahan, Quezon City during an entrapment operation conducted by PS 10 personnel, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency- National Capital Region (PDEA-NCR).
The operation yielded around 15 grams of shabu with a street value of P102,000. Also confiscated were a cellular phone, a motorcycle, and the buy-bust money.
Also, the teams from La Loma Police Station (PS 1), Payatas Police Station, Bagong Silangan Police Station (PS 13), Cubao Police Station (PS 7), Holy Spirit Police Station (PS 14), and Pasong Putik Police Station (PS 16) arrested nine other drug peddlers and seized around P82,280 worth of shabu on Aug. 23 and Aug. 24.
The suspects will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, police said.
