'Sputnik Gang' member nabbed after pointing pen gun at passersby in Sampaloc, Manila


Manila Police District (MPD) operatives arrested an alleged member of the “Sputnik Gang" after pointing a pen gun at passersby in Sampaloc, Manila, on Thursday afternoon, Aug. 24.
 

The MPD-Sampaloc Police Station (PS-4) identified the suspect as Cristobal Dela Cruz, 33, a resident of Felina Street in Sampaloc.
 
According to the authorities, the suspect was apprehended after two concerned citizens informed the Lacson Police Community Precinct (PCP) about the incident at 12:45 p.m.

Responding policemen spotted the suspect, who was wearing a black sando and brown shorts, holding an improvised firearm or pen gun in Barangay 432, Sampaloc.

The suspect was immediately arrested. Recovered from him was the pen gun and two pieces of live ammunition of caliber 40.
 
The suspect will face charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013, police said.
