BACOLOD CITY – A 58-year-old farmer was killed allegedly due to land conflict in Sitio Bandera, Barangay Bantayanon, Calatrava, Negros Occidental on Wednesday, August 23.
Police identified the victim as Vicente Daniel, 58, of Barangay Bantayanon.
Police Major Ronald Santillan, Calatrava police chief, said Daniel was found dead by the victim's wife inside a nipa hut.
Santillan said that unidentified armed men shot the victim and fled.
Some residents heard gunshots early Wednesday, he added.
Santillan said the victim received a threat about two months ago but did not elaborate further pending the investigation.
He said they will also check if someone had grudges against the victim that could be linked to the killing.
