House Deputy Majority Leader and ACT-CIS Party-list Rep. Erwin Tulfo has vowed to defend in Congress the free college education law.
This, after Tulfo got wind of supposed plans to get rid of this benefit.
"SUSMARYOSEP NAMAN!!! WAG NAMAN PAGDISKITAHAN ANG LIBRENG TUITION SA MGA STATE COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES PARA SA MGA MAHIHIRAP," he wrote in a Facebook post Wednesday, Aug. 23, his exasperation evident from his words.
(My goodness!!! Please leave alone the free tuition in state colleges and universities for the poor.)
"YAN PA LANG SO FAR ANG MAGANDANG NAGAWA NG PAMAHALAAN (past and present) NA FREE EDUCATION PARA SA LAHAT NG MAHIHIRAP. TAPOS NGAYON PLANONG ALISIN? NO WAY!!! THIS WE WILL DEFEND IN CONGRESS," added Tulfo.
(So far that's the only good thing that the government has done from the past or present on free education for all the poor. And now they plan on removing it? No way!!! This we will defend in Congress.)
The free college education law or the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act is embodied in Republic Act (RA) No.10931. It was signed by former president Rodrigo Duterte on Aug. 3, 2017.
It was arguably the most celebrated law of the previous administration.
