500 families benefit from Ako Bicol medical mission at Tarabangan Caravan
LEGAZPI CITY, Albay – Over 500 families from three barangays benefited from free medical and dental services during the Tarabangan Caravan at Oro Site High School here on Thursday morning, August 24.
Beneficiaries were from Barangays Peñaranda with more than 100 families, Orosite with more than 300, and Capantawan with more than 100.
Residents from these barangays received free medical checkup and medicines from the medical team of Tanchuling Hospital which has been a consistent sponsor of Ako Bicol party-list Tarabangan Caravans.
Also provided were free dental checkup, free massage, free haircut, and a chance to be hired in the local recruitment activity.
Ako Bicol party-list Executive Director Alfredo Garbin said that the event is part of the series of caravans being held in the entire region.
"Kami sa Ako Bicol party-list sa pangunguna ni Congressman Zaldy Co at Congressman Jil Bongalon patuloy na magbibigay ng serbisyong tulad nito, lalong lalo na serbisyong kalusugan na part ng core advocacy ng Ako Bicol party-list (We at the Ako Bicol party-list led by Congressmen Zaldy Co and Jil Bongalon will continue to provide services like these, particularly health services which are part of the core advocacy of Ako Bicol party-list)," he said.
The day-long event also had a dental health education conducted by Philippine Dental Association (PDA) and mental health awareness campaign led by mental health advocate Dr. Odette Rejuso Gonzales and the Bicol University College of Nursing (BUCN).
Barangay Captain Manuel Deladia of Barangay Orosite thanked Ako Bicol party-list, particularly Rep. Zaldy Co, and others sponsors for bringing the caravan to his barangay.
Deladia said that this was a big help for residents especially this time that Albay is still facing disaster from the Mayon Volcano unrest.
