2 brothers hurt while dynamite fishing in Quezon

POLILLO, Quezon – Two brothers were severely injured while dynamite fishing on Wednesday afternoon, August 23, in the sea of Barangay Lagunyin, this town.

Police identified the victims as brothers Gilbert, 41, and Edel, 34, both surnamed San Jose and residents of Sitio Lawis, Barangay Lagunyin.

Investigation said the victims saw a school of fish and Gilbert lit a stick of dynamite but hesitated to throw the explosive because the fish disappeared.

Edel approached Gilbert to order him to throw the dynamite but it exploded.

Victims were rescued by nearby fishermen and brought to the Polillo Medicare Hospital.

Police are investigating the incident and tracking the supplier of the dynamite in this town.
