Phone snatcher arrested after female victim chased him in Paco, Manila


A 25-year-old man was arrested after snatching a phone from a female call center agent inside a public utility jeepney (PUJ) in Paco, Manila on Tuesday evening, Aug. 22. 

The Manila Police District-Ermita Police Station (MPD-PS-5) identified the suspect as Jayvan Cagutong, resident of Barangay 847, Pandacan, Manila. 

According to the victim, she was scrolling through her mobile phone inside a passenger jeepney when the suspect boarded the vehicle along Penafrancia Street in Paco.

She said that upon reaching Escoda Street in Paco around 8:33 p.m., the suspect asked the driver to pull over and then snatched her phone. 

The suspect immediately ran towards San Marcelino Street in Paco, where the victim chased the man. 

Police patrolling the area saw the woman running after a man. She told them the suspect snatched her phone.

Policemen immediately responded and collared the suspect.

Recovered from Cagutong were the victim's phone and a dagger. 

The suspect will face robbery charges, police said.
