DOTr opens bidding for NAIA Rehabilitate-Operate-Expand-Transfer project
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has opened the bidding for the rehabilitation and maintenance of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
DOTr Secretary Jaime Bautista said the P170.6 billion contract also involves the operation and optimization of the potentials of the NAIA—which was recently voted as one of the worst airports in the world.
The project was already approved by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) and involves Rehabilitate-Operate-Expand-Transfer modality.
“The P170.6-billion NEDA Board-approved NAIA PPP (Public-Private Partnership) Project will cover all facilities of the country's main gateway, including its runways, four terminals, and associated facilities,” said Bautista.
He said the Instructions to Bidders (ITB) is already publicly available in the DOTr, Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) and the PPP center websites.
The project is expected to improve overall passenger experience and increase the current annual passenger capacity of NAIA to at least 62 million from the current 32 million.
