2 drug suspects arrested while gambling inside Pasay cemetery
Two persons were arrested for possession of illegal drugs and for playing cara y cruz (coin game) inside a public cemetery in Pasay City on Tuesday night, Aug. 22.
The Southern Police District (SPD) identified the suspects as Jerome Manzano, 24, an e-trike driver; and Analyn Ange, 37, a vendor.
According to the report of Pasay police chief, Col. Froilan Uy, the suspects were arrested at around 10:50 p.m. inside the Pasay public cemetery on Sgt. Mariano St. in Barangay 145, Zone 16.
The police said members of the Police Substation 5 received a call from a concerned citizen saying there were individuals inside the cemetery engaged in illegal gambling.
Upon verification, the responding policemen saw a group playing cara y cruz inside the cemetery.
The group of individuals scampered to different directions upon sensing the presence of policemen. However, two suspects were cornered and arrested.
Police recovered 55.36 grams of shabu amounting to P304,000, along with bet money worth P300, and five P1 coins used as flippers.
The arrested suspects were detained at the police custodial facility.
