Some HEIs to shift to synchronous classes due to FIBA World Cup opening
Several Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Metro Manila have announced their transition to online classes due to the upcoming International Basketball Federation (FIBA) World Cup 2023 on Aug. 25 at the Philippine Arena.

“Synchronous classes shall be observed in all levels on August 25, the opening ceremony of the FIBA Basketball World Cup,” Adamson University (AdU) said in a Facebook post on Tuesday, Aug. 22.
“However, all offices will remain open for onsite transactions,” AdU added.
Similarly, the University of Santo Tomas (UST) shared that the university is also set to shift to online classes on Aug. 25 according to The Varsitarian, the official student University's publication.
Meanwhile, the Lyceum of the Philippines (LPU) Manila confirmed on its social media account the suspension of classes and work operations.
Classes in public schools at all levels and work in the government in Metro Manila and Bulacan, however, were suspended after President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. released the Memorandum Circular No. 27, that says “it was part of the government’s commitment to wider involvement and participation in sports promotion and development.” (Rhowen Del Rosario)
