Police seize over P500,000 worth of ‘shabu’, nab 15 drug peddlers in QC, Malabon


Operatives from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) and Northern Police District (NPD) confiscated more than P542,040 worth of alleged shabu in separate buy-busts in Quezon City and Malabon City on Sunday, Aug. 20, and Tuesday, Aug. 22.

QCPD's District Drug Enforcement Unit (DDEU) arrested Joven Gabane, 33, in front of Quezon City Polytechnic University on IBP Road in Barangay Batasan Hills, Quezon City at around 7 a.m. on Aug 20.

In coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEA), DDEU operatives conducted a buy-bust after a concerned citizen tipped off the drug peddling activity of Gabane.

A police officer acted as a poseur-buyer and bought around P10,500 worth of alleged shabu from the suspect, which led to his arrest.

Police also confiscated from the suspect around 25 grams of shabu with a street value of P170,000, a blue pouch, a cellular phone, and the buy-bust money.

In another entrapment operation, members of Fairview Police Station (PS 5) apprehended RJ Mendoza, 46, on Viceroy St. in Barangay Greater Fairview, Quezon City at around 3 a.m. on Aug 22.

Mendoza's arrest came following a concerned citizen's report about his illegal activity.

Police confiscated from him 30 grams of “shabu” worth P204,000, a cellular phone, and the buy-bust money.

Also, teams from Talipapa Police Station (PS 3), Novaliches Police Station (PS 4), Kamuning Police Station (PS 10), Payatas Bagong Silangan Police Station (PS 13), and Holy Spirit Police Station conducted buy-bust operations that led to the arrest of 12 drug peddlers and confiscation of P93,920 worth of “shabu.”

Meanwhile, personnel of Malabon City Police Station-Station Drug Enforcement Unit (MCPS-SDEU) seized on the Aug. 22 drug sting around P80,920 worth of “shabu” from suspects John Eduard Miralles, 37, of Barangay 8, Caloocan City, and Isagani Calidro, 44, of Barangay Longos, Malabon City.

The arrested suspects will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, police said.
