The Embassy of India celebrated its 77th Independence Day on Aug. 15 at the India House in Makati City. This was attended by invited Indian nationals and some special guests.

The program opened with a warm welcome by Ambassador Shambhu S. Kumaran, followed immediately by the flag hoisting ceremony, which was one of the highlights of the event.
ONE OF THE HIGHLIGHTS of the celebration was the Flag Hoisting led by Ambassador Shambhu S. Kumaran, assisted by Embassy guard Madam Maheshwari and witnessed by Madame Amrita Singh Kumaran and Embassy Officials. (Arnold Quizol)
Ambassador Kumaran also read the address to the Nation of President SMT. Droupadi Murmu who extended his greetings to all.
In the message of the president, he stated that the people of India have been celebrating “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” with great enthusiasm, and he enjoined his fellow citizens to pay tribute to the known and unknown freedom fighters whose sacrifices have made it possible for India to regain its rightful place in the comity of nations.
