ILOILO CITY – Eleven persons were injured after the truck they were riding plunged off a mountain road in San Enrique town, Iloilo province over the long weekend.

The San Enrique Municipal Police Station identified the injured as Arlyn Gardoce Pineda, Llyene Gardoce Pineda, Liza Cerbania Padernal, Jonaya Patiño Bullos, Gilbert Servania Muyco, Shelie Dechavez Aquino, Nonie Parle Jimeniz, and four minors.
The truck driven by Rodsil Rendon Bensurto slid down the road when the vehicle could no longer carry the weight uphill to a viewing deck in the mountain Barangay Compo.
Victims were mostly relatives and residents of Passi City, Balasan town, Iloilo province, and Tapaz town, Capiz province. They were taken to the hospital.
A police spot report said Bensurto was allegedly under the influence of alcohol when the accident occurred. He was arrested while the truck is under police custody.
It is unclear if the victims will press charges against Bensurto.
