Young Filipino architect earns Erasmus Mundus architecture degree

Ong also chosen for a prestigious Getty fellowship


A young Filipino architect has just completed a prestigious master’s degree in Europe.

Timothy Augustus Y. Ong just returned from Italy where he completed a two- year program, the Erasmus Mundus joint master’s degree in architecture, landscape, and archaeology conducted by four renowned European institutes, namely: Sapienza University of Rome; National Technical University of Athens; University of Coimbra, Portugal; and University of Napoles Federico II.

Ong is the first Filipino to have achieved this feat.

He is leaving on Sept. 1, 2023 to participate in a year-long fellowship at the Getty Conservation Institute of the Getty Center in Los Angeles, California, as one of only two graduate interns chosen from a vast field of more than 7,000 aspirants worldwide.  

Ong is a Bachelor of Science in Architecture graduate of the University of the Philippines, magna cum laude.
