CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija – Fake cigarettes and suspected shabu worth a total of P195,000 were seized by the police in General Natividad and San Antonio, this province, recently.
Police Col. Richard Caballero, Nueva Ecija police chief, said General Natividad policemen conducting a checkpoint in Barangay Talabutab Sur flagged down a gray Mitsubishi Adventure driven by alias “Joey,” a 29-year-old resident of Barangay Daan Sarile, this city,.
Police searched Joey’s vehicle and discovered 400 reams of counterfeit cigarettes with an estimated value of P100,000.
These were taken into custody and the suspect faces charges for violation of Republic Act No. 8293 or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.
Meanwhile, the San Antonio police arrested “AJ,” a 33-year-old driver from Dingalan, Aurora, after he sold shabu to a poseur-buyer in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Tikiw, San Antonio.
Suspect yielded 14 grams of shabu worth P95,200 and the P1,000 buy-bust money.
AJ is under the custody of the San Antonio police and faces drug-related charges.
