Negros Occidental 3rd district Rep. Jose Francisco “Kiko” Benitez's official Facebook page was hacked on Monday, Aug. 21.
"We regret to inform the public that the Official Facebook Page of Negros Occidental-Third District Representative Jose Francisco “Kiko” Benitez has been compromised by unauthorized access," read a statement from the congressman Monday afternoon.
Benitez's office said they were "actively addressing this issue and working to regain control of the page".
It urged the public to "report any suspicious content and avoid engaging with unauthorized posts".
"We appreciate your cooperation as we work to resolve this matter and will provide updates as available. Thank you for your understanding," the solon's office added.

As of this posting, the suspected hacker changed the profile picture of Benitez's Facebook page and uploaded at least one extraneous content.
Benitez chairs the Housing and Urban Development Committee in the current 19th Congress.
