"Moderate your greed."
This was House Deputy Majority Leader ACT-CIS Party-list Rep. Erwin Tulfo's message to local oil companies after he learned that another round of pump fuel price hikes has been projected this week.
"LINGGO -LINGGO NA LANG TUMATAAS ANG PRESYO NG LANGIS AT WALA TAYONG MAGAWA. HARAP-HARAPAN NILOLOKO ANG TAUMBAYAN NG MGA KUMPANYANG ITO!!!" Tulfo wrote on Facebook Sunday, Aug. 20.
(Fuel prices have been going up weekly and we can't do anything about it. These companies are fooling the people to their faces!!!)
The rookie solon went on to explain that the oil companies shouldn't immediately impose price hikes based on price movements in the world market since oil tankers from other countries take time to reach the Philippines.
He said that the oil firms are essentially selling their "old stock" of fuel,--which they acquired at a lower cost--at these higher, adjusted prices. And that's not right, he said.
Tulfo had earlier said he would file a bill seeking the repeal of the Oil Deregulation Law. He says the law allows for such unabated price hikes on fuel prices.
