Helper killed in fistfight with farrier in Batangas

MALVAR, Batangas – A 34-year-old helper was killed in a fistfight following a heated argument with a farrier or craftsman in Barangay San Pioquinto, this town, on Monday, August 21.

Police identified the victim as Mark Jefferson Reyes, resident of Barangay San Pioquinto.

Investigation said the victim and the suspect, Jefferson Macarilay, 36, single, also a resident of Barangay Pioquinto, had a heated argument resulting in a fistfight.

The victim sustained repeated blows to the head and slumped to the ground, prompting the suspect to bring him to a hospital where he was declared dead.

Police arrested the suspect in the hospital. Macarilay was taken to the Malvar police custodial facility and has opted to remain silent about the incident.

Suspect faces appropriate charges.
