The southwest monsoon or "Habagat" will continue to prevail over the western sections of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao in the next 24 hours, the state weather bureau said on Monday, Aug. 21.

"For the next 24 hours, we will experience a high chance of rain with cloudy skies over Palawan and the western and southern sections of Mindanao," Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather specialist Daniel James Villamil said in Filipino.
Cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms is also expected over Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, SOCCSKSARGEN, and Davao del Sur.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country can expect clearer weather, hot and humid with partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers caused by localized thunderstorms.
On the other hand, he added PAGASA is currently monitoring cloud clusters over the eastern section of Mindanao inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
Other than that, Villamil said that they have not monitored any new Low-Pressure Area (LPA) that can turn into a tropical storm in the next few days.
