Cops rescue Taiwanese woman from abductors in Malabon


A Taiwanese woman was rescued by members of the Malabon City Police Station (MCPS) on Sunday, Aug. 20, after she was allegedly kidnapped by seven male Chinese nationals in Malate, Manila last Aug. 14.

The MCPS identified the victim as Wang Hui-Xin, 35, a resident of Bonifacio Global City, Makati City.

Police said that according to the victim, she was invited by her friend named “Axin” to meet in Malate, Manila on Aug. 14.

However, the victim did not see her friend when she went to the meet up place, but instead, was abducted by the seven Chinese suspects who were on board a private vehicle.

She was brought to a house on Oak Street, Victoneta North, Barangay Potrero, Malabon City while blindfolded.

Police said the suspects reportedly asked money from the victim amounting to $71,428, $21, 805, $20,000, $1,000, and $10,000 which she sent to them via online cash transfer.

The victim was also allegedly raped by the leader of the group twice on Aug. 18.

The victim was reportedly able to ask help from her male Taiwanese friend who reported the incident to the MCPS.

They were able to locate the victim through the Global Positioning System (GPS) of her phone.

Responding MCPS Substation 1 officers went to the area at around 5 p.m. on Sunday which led to the rescue of the victim.

Two suspects, identified as Zheng Xi Lin, 34; and Ma Pun Xin, 36, were also arrested.

Charges will be filed against the arrested suspects, police said.

The incident is still under investigation, MCPS Chief Col. Jonathan Tangonan said.
