CAMP RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – The Police Regional Office-13 on Monday, August 21, will start deploying 960 police personnel in different schools to ensure orderly and peaceful opening of classes under "Ligtas Balik-Eskwela" in the Caraga region on Tuesday, August 29.
The PRO-13 will also mobilize regional, provincial, and city mobile forces to assist local police stations in the five provinces and six cities of the region in the opening of classes.
Aside from manning Police Assistance Desks (PADs), police will also be deployed within the vicinity of schools to ensure zero crime incidents.
“They shall assist or if possible, spearhead the traffic management operations,” PRO-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Kirby John B. Kraft said.
Kraft directed all unit commanders to attend coordination meetings with the Department of Education (DepEd), local government units (LGUs), Parents-Teachers Associations, and volunteer groups to carry out the public safety services during the opening of classes.
Provincial police offices and the Butuan City Police Office will conduct simultaneous exercises in coordination with school authorities on possible incidents like bomb threats, fire, earthquakes, and other related scenarios.
“We will secure and protect our learning institutions, including the students, teachers, and parents, from criminals and would-be criminals,” Kraft said. “Our police units will intensify the crime prevention approach, police visibility, law enforcement operations, and police-community partnership for Ligtas Balik-Eskwela.”
