Rob gang member killed in gunfight

GENERAL SANTOS CITY – A suspected robbery gang member was killed after he shot it out with policemen who tried to serve an arrest warrant against him in his safehouse in Barangay Fatima, this city, on Saturday, August 19.

Police Col. Nicomedes Olaivar, newly installed city police director, identified the suspect as Alfie Alferez, a member of the Faisal Criminal Gang which was tagged in the series of robbery incidents in this city in the past months.

Police said the suspect, who was armed with a .45 caliber pistol,  resisted arrest by firing at arresting lawmen.

Alferez was one of two suspects who robbed a mobile phone center on Leon Llido St., this city, on August 9.   

Police recovered a .45 caliber pistol and several IPhones from the suspect.

Ramie Rosario Galang, owner of the mobile phone shop, confirmed that the recovered mobile phones were among the items forcibly taken by the suspects from her store.

Police Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg, Police Regional Office-12 director, said police intelligence operatives had been closely monitoring the criminal activities of the robbery gang operating in this city.
