Muntinlupa, other areas to be waterless for 2 days due to Maynilad treatment plant shutdown

Customers in Muntinlupa and other areas will have no water supply for two days as Maynilad Water Services Inc. will temporarily shut down its Putatan Water Treatment Plants due to repair and maintenance. 

According to Maynilad, the water service interruption will be implemented on Aug. 21 and 22.

“Because of this, water supply will be temporarily interrupted in some parts of Las Pinas, Muntinlupa, Paranaque and Pasay City in Metro Manila: and Bacoor, Cavite City, Imus City, Noveleta and Rosario in Cavite Province, from August 21, 2023 to August 22.2023,” Maynilad said in a letter to the Bureau of Fire Protection-Muntinlupa. 

In the letter shared by Muntinlupa City Department of Disaster Resilience and Management on its Facebook page, Maynilad said, “As part of the program to keep facilities in good condition, Maynilad is scheduled to temporarily shut down its plants in Putatan, Muntinlupa, twice this second half of the year. The said plant shutdowns - which will take place in August and September 2023 will allow for some maintenance and repair activities.” 

“Among the activities to be carried out this August is the repair of the leaking ‘inlet pipe’ that carries water from the plants to the reservoir. In addition, Maynilad will also carry out some other maintenance activities to ensure the smooth operation of the plants,” Maynilad added. 

Maynilad said it will “deploy 40 mobile water tankers to the affected areas in Muntinlupa. However, it would be of great help if we can have more mobile tankers bringing water door-to-door to our customers and filling up our stationary water tanks.”

“In view of this, we humbly seek the assistance of your good office in providing additional mobile water trucks that we can use for this purpose. Your kind accommodation will greatly help in our effort to ease the impact of the reduced production on our affected customers,” Maynilad as BFP-Muntinlupa.
