'Habagat' continues to affect southern Luzon, VisMin --- PAGASA
The state weather bureau on Sunday, Aug. 20, said that the southwest monsoon or "habagat" will continue to affect the western part of southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao for the next 24 hours.

"It is still the southwest monsoon or 'habagat' that continues to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms in the western parts of southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao," weather specialist Daniel James Villamil said in a weather update.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has also noted that warmer weather conditions may be experienced in Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
"In Metro Manila and the remaining parts of our country, we can expect clearer weather, although the weather will still be warm, especially around noon," Villamil said in a mix of English and Filipino.
"We have a chance of experiencing rain again due to thunderstorms in the afternoon until evening," he added.
Moreover, in Western Visayas, the Zamboanga Peninsula, Palawan, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi may experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.
PAGASA warned localities in the said areas for the "possible flooding or landslides due to moderate with at times heavy rains." (Sonny Daanoy)
