Woman stabbed to death by live-in partner in Laguna

CALAMBA CITY, Laguna – A woman was stabbed to death by her lover during a heated argument in their house in Barangay Saimsim here on Tuesday afternoon, August 1. Police identified the victim as Andrea Salve Escalante. Escalante died upon reaching the J.P. Rizal Hospital here due to stab wounds in the body. The suspect, John Catambay, fled and is now the subject of a manhunt. Investigation said that Escalante and Catambay arrived at the victim’s house at 2 p.m. A heated argument ensued in front of the victim’s mother. The victim’s mother decided to go upstairs and leave the couple at the height of the argument. After a few minutes, the victim shouted for help, “Mama papatayin na niya ako” (Mama, he will kill me). The mother immediately went down and saw the suspect stabbing her daughter several times and fled. The mother called for assistance from barangay officials and brought the victim to the hospital. Police investigation is ongoing.
