Bishop Mangalinao said prayers helped him to recover faster so that he will be able to continue his pastoral ministry.

“My deep appreciation and gratitude for the kind prayers and sacrifices they offered on my behalf. Indeed, I am a living miracle of the faithful’s providential care. Truly, faith saves, and prayer heals,” said Bishop Mangalinao over Radio Veritas.

Bishop Mangalinao underwent a quintuple heart-bypass surgery at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan City in February.

Diocesan chancellor Fr. Robbie Oliveros, Jr., regularly updated the faithful of Bayombong on the health of their bishop while he was still recuperating.

“Now, I am recovering very well and ready to resume my active pastoral ministry this August in the Diocese of Bayombong,” said Bishop Mangalinao six months after his successful surgery.

Bishop Mangalinao is also currently serving as the chairman of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines-Episcopal Commission on Catechesis and Catholic Education. He will be replaced by current vice-chairman, San Fernando, La Union Bishop Daniel Presto when his term expires in November.
