No classes in Manila in all levels due to heavy rains
The City of Manila local government announced the suspension of classes in all levels in public and private schools in the city on Thursday, August 3, as the southwest monsoon brought heavy rains to Metro Manila.
“As recommended by the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) and the Manila Police District (MPD), classes are suspended today, August 3, 2023, for all levels, public and private, face to face and online,” the city government said.
The Manila DRRMO also issued a thunderstorm warning in the city.
It said the alert is now in effect and will stay in place until 11 p.m.
“As precautionary measure for possible inclement weather and formation of thunderstorms, the City of Manila is suspending the classes on all levels for today, August 3. Please be guided accordingly,” the advisory read.
Flash floods are also expected in low-lying areas such as Taft and Recto avenues.
Meanwhile, the Manila DRRMO deployed its transporter trucks to assist stranded passengers.
