Manila LGU lauds 21 outstanding members of city council

Manila Vice Mayor John Marvin "Yul Servo" Nieto announced on Wednesday, August 2, the 21 members of the Manila City Council (MCC) who were cited for exemplary performance and dedication. The awarding ceremony was held during the celebration of the MCC’s 122nd anniversary at the Ayuntamiento de Manila in Intramuros, Manila. The first awardee was Manila City Administrator Bernardito “Bernie” Ang for his several contributions to Manila, such as authoring the Local Tax Code of Manila and principally authoring the city ordinance that established the former City College of Manila as Universidad de Manila (UDM). Nieto thanked Ang for being one of his mentors on his political career. Former Manila vice mayor Danilo Lacuna, father of Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan, received the “Dangal ng Konseho Award” for his decades of selfless service, both as a member and presiding officer of the MCC. Councilor Numero Lim and MCC Majority Floorleader Ernesto “Jong” Isip, Jr. received awards for having high number of draft ordinances and resolutions. Isip, Jr., was also known for authoring the most resolutions and ordinances approved during his first year in the city council. The other awardees were Councilor Salvador Philip Lacuna for principally authoring the most number of approved ordinances; Councilor Irma Alfonso-Juson for also filing the most number of draft ordinances; and Councilor Pamela “Fa” Fugoso-Pascual for principally authoring the most number of ordinances approved and having the best record in attendance. Councilors Martin Isidro, Jr. and Nino dela Cruz were also awarded for having best attendance record. The “Distinguished Legislator of Manila'' was given to Congressmen Ernesto Dionisio, Jr., Rolando Valeriano, Joel R. Chua, Edward V.P. Maceda, Irwin Tieng, and Bienvenido Abante, Jr., for their utmost distinctions during their term as councilors. Justice Jhosep Lopez received the “Timbulan ng Laya Award” for excelling in the field of law and justice when he was city councilor. The award of “Perlas ng Konseho” was given to former Councilors Re Fugoso, Robert Ortega, Jr., and Marlon Lacson for their 18 years of selfless and devoted service as MCC members. Deputy City Administrator Jocelyn Dawis-Asuncion and Manuel “Let Let” Zarcal were also given the "Perlas ng Konseho" award for having served the MCC for 21 years.
