Ice cream vendor shot dead in Basilan

ZAMBOANGA CITY – An ice vendor was gunned down in Barangay Lagayas, Tipo-Tipo, Basilan on Tuesday, August 1. Police identified the victim as Leonardo Sanchez Arcila of Barangay Aguada, Isabela, Basilan. Investigation disclosed that the victim was on his way home when he was shot by riding-in-tandem suspects. Arcila sustained four bullet wounds from a .45 caliber pistol. Police found the victim’s earnings amounting to P4,611 and cellphone at the crime scene. The victim was declared dead on arrival in a hospital. Police have yet to determine the motive and identity of the suspects.
