Duke guard Vanessa De Jesus to miss 2023-24 NCAA season due to knee injury

Gilas Pilipinas Women guard Vanessa De Jesus will miss the 2023-24 season with Duke University due to a knee injury, the school announced on Tuesday morning (Manila time), August 1.

The basketball program disclosed her injury but no further details were given up to now. De Jesus, unfortunately, will spend her fourth season in rehabilitation and recovery, leaving his team full of rookies and sophomores who will miss her veteran presence in the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
De Jesus shared on her Instagram the injury she sustained from practice.
“A short time ago, I suffered a knee injury during practice that will keep me out for the upcoming season,” De Jesus wrote.
The Filipino-American cager had 66 appearances and started 18 times for the Blue Devils, averaging 5.1 points and 2.0 per game with a career-high of 17 points.
De Jesus, 21, is coming off a successful run with Gilas in the FIBA Asia Cup where she had 12.8 points, 3.2 assists and 1.8 rebounds.
She worked with Gilas mainstays Jack Animam, Afril Bernardino, Janine Pontejos and Ella Fajardo for a sixth place finish.
