TACLOBAN CITY – A businesswoman was gunned down in her house in Barangay District 1, Ormoc City, on Tuesday, August 1.
Police identified the victim as Emily Porcadilla, 55, alias “Emyat,” an “ukay-ukay” (used clothes) trader.
Initial investigation said the victim was in her room when several unidentified armed men wearing bonnets barged in and shot her several times.
Gunmen escaped on board a red van and the Ormoc City Police Office (OCPO) found the victim lying on her bed lifeless with multiple bullet wounds.
Police conducted a hot-pursuit operation against the suspects but to no avail.
After forensics investigators processed the crime scene, a man showed up from the second floor of the house with a bag.
Police identified him as Michael Perez, 33.
The bag yielded a sachet of suspected shabu weighing two grams and valued at P13,600.
Perez denied owning the shabu. He suspects that it was placed inside his bag by Porcadilla’s gunmen who went up to the second floor during the shooting.
Despite this, charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act are being prepared against Perez who was released from prison on July 10, 2020, for illegal drug offenses in 2016.
