10 QC hospitals receive P50-M medical assistance fund from Sen. Villanueva, DOH
Ten hospitals in Quezon City received a total of P50,000,000 under the Department of Health’s (DOH) Medical Assistance Program (MAP) fund that they can use to provide assistance to indigent patients.
The hospitals that were granted with the MAP fund included East Avenue Medical Center, Lung Center of the Philippines, National Children’s Hospital, National Kidney and Transplant Institute, Philippine Children’s Medical Center, Philippine Heart Center, Philippine Orthopedic Center, Quezon City General Hospital, Quirino Memorial Medical Center, Veterans Memorial Medical Center.
Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, Senator Joel Villanueva, health professionals and officials of the hospitals attended the turnover ceremony of the MAP fund at the Quezon City Hall on Wednesday. A memorandum of agreement between the hospitals’ officials and the DOH occurred during the event.
The MAP fund was sponsored by the Office of the Majority Leader Senator Joel Villanueva, through the DOH. It aims to aid individuals in need of financial help for their health-related problems.

Villanueva said the 10 hospitals in the city, which were granted P5,000,000 each, may use the funds to help patients who cannot afford to avail of the different medical services or buy medicines.
Belmonte thanked the senator for considering the hospitals in the city as the beneficiaries of the program.
“It is indeed a clear declaration of your unwavering commitment to value the lives of the Filipino people by making sure that everyone receives the best care possible. For us, this is a testament of your dedication to build a compassionate country where care is a right and not a privilege,” she told the senator.
“I am confident that this [MAP] will benefit a large number of Filipinos, including our residents in Quezon City who are most vulnerable and financially challenged. Sa paglalaan ng pondong ito hindi lamang natin sila inaalalayan sa problemang kanilang pinagdadaanan, binibigyan din natin sila ng pag-asa (By allocating this fund, we don’t only support them in the problems they are going through, we also give them hope),” Belmonte said.
She also said that the MAP will motivate hospital workers such as doctors, nurses, hospital staff, and non-health workers in doing their best when performing their duties.
“We strongly believe that this is a huge step towards strengthening the cornerstone of a strong and resilient Philippines. Let us all remember that a healthy population is the foundation of a productive society. This is why ensuring the health of our people should always be on top of our priorities and we can only accomplish this by making sure that every citizen, regardless of age, gender, and religion, has access to quality health care services,” the mayor added.
