10,000 job opportunities offered at Malabon mega job fair

The Malabon City government held a mega job fair at Robinsons Town Mall in Barangay Tinajeros, Malabon City on Saturday, Aug. 19.

The local government, through the Migrant Resource Center (MRC) of the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), offered 10,000 local and overseas job opportunities for residents.

Applicants had a wide-range of options for local and overseas-based positions from various participating companies in the fair.

The event started from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The event was conducted in partnership with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), Department of Labor and Employment, Overseas Worker Welfare Association, Technical Education And Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and Robinsons Town Malabon.

Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval expressed her gratitude to the employers and companies who participated in the said event.

She hoped that job seekers will find the right jobs that match their skills.

“Many of us here are new graduates, and there are also numerous individuals seeking employment. We are here to support these opportunities, not just to assist those in need of jobs or employers, but also to contribute to the economy of our town of Malabon,” she said.

Sandoval also encouraged them to consider hiring 70 percent of the applicants in accordance with the city ordinance.

Sandoval stated that as of May 2023, the second mega job fair employment rate increased by 88 percent, which indicated a successful fair.

“There are many people who are looking for work just like in the last pandemic, there are still after effects, many people have lost their livelihoods and many companies are also looking for employees, so these job fairs give them the opportunity to have a matching, I said that we have ordinance here in Malabon that 70% of the employees in a company must come from here in Malabon,” she said.
