Tingog Party-list Rep. Yedda Romualdez recently took part in a "boodle fight" in Caloocan City after distributing fish and rice to local residents.
The distribution took place Thursday morning, Aug. 17, at Sugpo Covered Court, Dagat-dagatan, in Caloocan's 2nd district.
According to Tingog, some 2,000 indigent families were given rice and mackerel or alumahan sourced from Palawan.
The traditional boodle fight happened afterwards wherein Romualdez--a former Miss International beauty pageant contestant--pointed out the value of different people gathering on one table and sharing food.
"Naniniwala kami na ang pag-unlad ng bansa ay nakasalalay sa sama-sama at sabay-sabay na pagunlad ng mga mamamayan nito. Kaya laging first priority ng Tingog ang magserbisyo sa mga marginalized at vulnerable communities," said the wife of House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
(We believe that an entire nation's progress is hinged on the concurrent successes of its citizens. That's why the first priority of Tingog is to always look after the marginalized and vulnerable communities).
Tingog means "voice" in Bisaya.
