The Civil Service Commission (CSC) will be organizing a nationwide fun run and tree-planting event to honor government workers who died in the line of duty through the provision of one-time financial assistance plus scholarship opportunities to their family members.

CSC, in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and its attached agencies, will conduct a simultaneous Plant-Run across 16 regions nationwide to raise funds for the Pamanang Lingkod Bayani.
CSC urged government officials and employees to join the said event scheduled on Sept. 17 to celebrate the 123rd Philippine Civil Service Anniversary (PCSA).
“We are inviting our 1.8 million civil servants to participate in this fun, exciting, and meaningful event. Aside from encouraging an active lifestyle and promoting environmental conservation, proceeds from this activity will also provide financial aid for the families of our fallen heroes, our exemplary public servants,” said CSC Chairperson Karlo Nograles.
In Region IV, the Plant-Run will be held in Yes City, Tanay, Rizal Province. Meanwhile, CSC is set to have the Plant-Run in Brgy. Can-asujan, Carcar City, Cebu, for Region VII and along Davao City Coastal Road, Matina Aplaya Segment in Davao City for Region XI.
Other CSC Regional Offices have also identified specific locations for participants joining the Plant-Run, details of which will be announced to the participants upon signing up.
Registration started on July 31 and will end on Sept. 8. CSC said that this is open to all government officials, employees, and their family members who are at least 18 years of age at the time of registration. The registration fee is P550.
Interested participants may register through the official registration links provided to their agency’s Human Resource Management Office (HRMO). Meanwhile, group participants may download the Group registration form at https://tinyurl.com/2023PCSAPLANT-RUNREGISTRATION.
The annual PCSA celebration commemorates the signing of Public Law No. 5 or An Act for the Establishment and Maintenance of an Efficient and Honest Civil Service in the Philippine Islands on 19 September 1900.
The celebration is also pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 1050, series of 1997 signed by the late President Fidel Valdez Ramos declaring the month of September as the Civil Service Month.
The PCSA has a 10-year overarching theme, Transforming Public Service in the Next Decade: Honing Agile and Future-Ready Servant-Heroes, which reflects the collective experience of the government workforce in the new normal, and in pushing for digital transformation and innovations to uphold public service excellence and continuity.
Other activities lined up for the 123rd PCSA include the 2023 Public Sector Human Resource Symposium, 2023 Awards Rites for Outstanding Government Workers, Government Online Career Fair, Online Zumba and Film Showing, Bloodletting Activity, Golf for a Cause, Virtual Recognition Program for Contact Center ng Bayan Partner Agencies, and PRIME HRM Awards.
