4 NCR mayors sign good governance manifesto

In line with their respective administration's advocacies towards "people-oriented" policies and public service, four city mayors in the National Capital Region (NCR) have signed the "Mayors for Good Governance (M4GG) Manifesto."

These NCR mayors include Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, Marikina City Mayor Marcelino "Marcy" Teodoro, and Muntinlupa City Mayor Rozanno Rufino "Ruffy" Biazon.

The M4GG is described to be a "movement" composed of top local officials who seek to unite and serve the best interests of their communities, and fight against corruption in the country.

According to M4GG, the manifesto represents the organization's "shared vision and unwavering commitment to uphold the principles of good governance and serve the best interests of constituents."

Serving as a blueprint for mayors, the signatories of the manifesto have pledged to "prioritize the welfare and needs of their constituents and elevate the standards of governance."

Some of the principles upheld in the manifesto include high standards of integrity and transparency; active citizen participation and empowerment; youth engagement, respect for human rights and rule of law; and  equitable development.

It also stated vows on the responsible use of public funds and budget allocation, streamlining of services, integration of more advanced technologies, and strengthening public-private partnerships (PPPs).

The manifesto also called on mayors to commit to continuous learning and development to enhance leadership skills and best practices to meet the evolving needs of the public.

Including the metro mayors, more than 80 from across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao have signed the manifesto, according to the organization.
