4 dead as truck rams motorcycles in Negros Oriental

BACOLOD CITY – Four persons, including a family of three, were killed and another was injured when a trailer truck crashed into motorcycles in Barangay North Poblacion, Bacong, Negros Oriental on Saturday, August 19.

Police identified the fatalities as Ruel Pascual, 43, his wife Analie, 47, their 15-year-old daughter, and Meliton Blanco, 59, and the injured as Wilson Kial, 43.

Investigation said the driver of a tanker truck lost control of the vehicle after one of its tires burst and rammed the victims’ motorcycles.

The victims were pinned by the truck before it crashed into a house.

The truck driver sustained minor injuries and surrendered to the police after the accident.

He said that it was not his intention to hurt anyone and added that he tried to avoid the motorcycles but he could not control the vehicle.

He asked forgiveness from the family of the victims.
