The local governments of Valenzuela and Quezon Cities conducted mega job fairs offering local and overseas employment on Tuesday, Aug. 15, and Friday, Aug. 18.
The Quezon City government, through the Migrants Resource Center (MRC) of the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), conducted its Overseas Job Fair which offered over 3,000 land-based and sea-based employment opportunities from different licensed recruitment agencies on Friday, Aug 18.

The event was held at the Quezon City Hall Risen Garden from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., in partnership with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).
“The goal of this first-ever overseas job fair is to provide numerous opportunities abroad for aspiring migrant workers while ensuring their well-being through safe, orderly, and fair migration. Sa pamamagitan ng DMW na nagbigay ng mga lehitimong recruitment agencies, mas protektado ang kapakanan ng ating mga kababayan na makikipagsapalaran sa abroad (Through the DMW that provided legitimate recruitment agencies, the welfare of our countrymen who will venture abroad is better protected),” said Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte.
The MRC said they will also conduct an awareness campaign to encourage all aspiring migrant workers to actively engage in the "Pre-Migration Orientation Seminar."
The seminar will be the initial intervention for future migrant workers.
“Employers are looking for employees with soft skills and eagerness for life-long learning aside from the applicant’s work experience and educational background,” PESO Manager Rogelio Reyes said.
The applicants should bring general job requirements such as resume, diploma, and other relevant documents and certificates of the applicants.
According to the LGU, the partnership of the Quezon City local government and the DMW is a part of the Memorandum Agreement that was inked earlier this year.
It aims to strengthen the full protection, promotion, and realization of the rights of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), particularly women and their families in the city.
The agreement also aims to develop services and programs that are appropriate, effective, and efficient.
Meanwhile, the Valenzuela City local government Public Employment Service Office (PESO) conducted the Mega Job Fair on Tuesday, Aug. 15, at the SM City Valenzuela.
The event was held in collaboration with Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), Department of Labor and Employment, Overseas Worker Welfare Association, Office of Senator Win Gatchalian, and SM City Valenzuela.

According to the Valenzuela LGU, the fair’s main event was further boosted by the participation of several companies that are seeking new talents to expand their workforce.
Around nine employers presented over 3,000 job opportunities, both local and overseas, to jobseekers.
The city government said that among the participants, six individuals were qualified for their applied positions, while 425 were candidates for interviews.
The city government said that in order to have a smooth application process, it set up a pre-employment one-stop-shop where jobseekers can process different documents from DOLE, PESO, DMW, Philippine Statistic Authority (PSA), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), PAG-IBIG, and Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).
The city government also launched the Valenzuela OFW Family Circle as a family support group to the Valenzuela’s OFWs.
The registration for family members was available during the fair.
The Valenzuela City local government vowed to continue initiating programs and events for the economy and career growth of the Valenzuela residents.
